Care

A small Amazon cory named after Evelyn Axelrod. PlanetCatfish gives a maximum of about 6 cm standard length. Like all corys it is sociable: keep a group of at least six of the same species. A tank with a base of about 60 × 30 cm (around 54 litres) suits a group – our estimate, as PlanetCatfish gives no tank size. Use soft sand, with plants, roots and leaf litter for cover and an open area for feeding. PlanetCatfish gives 22–26 °C but no pH or hardness figures; soft to moderately hard water around neutral is the usual cory approach. Keep the water clean with regular partial changes and a tidy substrate, and take care with salt and medications. As in other corys, females are larger and broader-bodied when seen from above. Several similar corys from the same region have been sold under this name (including an undescribed "new evelynae"), so identification is not always certain. PlanetCatfish lists it as a lineage 9 cory, and it is placed in Hoplisoma (Hoplisoma evelynae) after the 2024 revision of Corydoras, but it is still sold as "Corydoras evelynae". It is uncommon in the hobby. Sources: PlanetCatfish (planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?speciesid=115). Checked October 2026.

Diet

An omnivorous bottom forager. Feed good sinking tablets and pellets daily, plus live or frozen bloodworm, Daphnia and small worms. Make sure food reaches the bottom rather than relying on leftovers.

Breeding

PlanetCatfish has no breeding reports. A general cory approach – conditioning a group on live and frozen food and then a large, slightly cooler water change – is the usual way to try.

Compatibility and tank mates

A peaceful community fish. Keep it with small, gentle tankmates such as tetras, pencilfish, hatchetfish and dwarf cichlids, and other small corys.
